Job creation in India also generates employment in America, says US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor

US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor has described India as an unmatched market for American companies. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi today, Mr Gor highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries across sectors, including defence, information technology and trade.

Highlighting the investments by major American companies in data centres and semiconductor manufacturing in India, Mr Gor noted that job creation in India also generates employment opportunities in the United States. He underlined that India is well positioned for AI and technology development on its own soil, adding that partnerships with leading American companies would be mutually beneficial. Highlighting the success of the India AI summit earlier this year, the US Ambassador credited the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for advancing the AI sector.

Ambassador Gor said that the US President Donald Trump is expected to make a decision within the next 10 days on sanctions provisions that could affect countries buying Russian oil and gas. He added that the legislation passed by the US Congress gives the President authority to impose sanctions on countries involved in buying Russian oil and gas or helping evade sanctions. However, he noted that these measures were not directed at any particular country. Mr. Gor also expressed confidence that India and the US would conclude a trade deal, saying the two sides had made substantial progress despite the complexity of the negotiations.
