Indian security agencies have secured the deportation of Harwinder Kumar, alias Sonu Barnala, who is linked to the murder of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Vikas Prabhakar in Nangal, Punjab. The Home Affairs Ministry informed that VHP leader was killed by operatives of the terror organisation Babbar Khalsa International in an attempt to create communal unrest, at the behest of its Pakistan-based chief, Wadhawa Singh, alias Babbar.
UAE-based Sonu Barnala was a fugitive against whom a red notice was issued. Following a request from Indian agencies, the UAE authorities handed him over to India.
Under Prime Minister Modi’s vision of zero tolerance against terror, the Ministry of Home Affairs has launched the PRAHAAR initiative, under which the deportation of terrorists to India has been expedited.
