Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has said that India has emerged as the fastest-growing major economy over the past 12 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, driven by empowerment, good governance and inclusive development.
Writing an article for English daily, the Minister highlighted the role of the country’s youth in this transformation. Dr Mandaviya noted that initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, Startup India, Skill India, PM Mudra Yojana and the National Career Service portal have expanded opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and skill development. The Minister said that between 2017-18 and 2023-24, the country’s employment elasticity stood at 1.11, indicating a rise in employment alongside economic growth.
He added that the EPFO payroll data indicate that over 8 crore formal-sector jobs were added between 2017 and 2025. Dr Mandaviya noted that as India advances towards becoming a developed nation, employees and employers will continue to serve as the twin engines of growth, prosperity, and opportunity.
