India created history at the International Association of Ultrarunners 24-Hour Asia and Oceania Championships held in Japan. India won a total of five medals and dominated the men’s category. Amar Singh Devanda won the gold medal after covering an impressive 282 point 881 kilometres in 24 hours. Geeno Antony claimed silver with 272 point 894 kilometres, while the bronze also went to India.
In the women’s category, the Indian team secured the bronze medal with a combined distance of 667 point 722 kilometres. Tenzin Dolma was the top Indian performer, finishing fourth individually.
The championship was held in Hirosaki City, Japan, with 81 athletes from nine countries participating in the endurance event.
