In Nepal, a dormitory building for the Lowo Nyiphug Namdrol Norbuling Monastic School in Lomanthang, Mustang district of Gandaki Province, built with Government of India assistance, was jointly inaugurated today by Ambassador of India to Nepal Naveen Srivastava and Chairman of Lomanthang Rural Municipality Tashi Nharbu Gurung.
The double-storeyed dormitory, comprising four blocks and allied facilities, was constructed under India’s High Impact Community Development Project programme and implemented through the Lomanthang Rural Municipality. The school plays an important role in preserving local cultural heritage while also providing education under Nepal’s national curriculum.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Srivastava reiterated India’s commitment to working closely with Nepal for shared growth and prosperity. Local representatives and school authorities expressed gratitude for India’s support, saying the new facility will improve accommodation and the learning environment for students.
India has undertaken nearly 600 High Impact Community Development Projects across Nepal’s seven provinces and 74 districts. In Gandaki Province alone, 63 such projects have been implemented, including 18 in Mustang district. The initiative reflects the strong development partnership between India and Nepal and continued cooperation in key sectors such as education, health and infrastructure.
