A Hockey Feeder Centre will be set up in Madhya Pradesh for children aged 6 to 12 years. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang made the announcement in Bhopal. He said the centre will identify sports talent among children at an early age and provide them basic training.

The aim is to find talented children at the village, block and local levels and later connect them with sports academies in the state. In this way, a system will be developed to train players from the feeder centre to the academy and then to the national and international levels. Madhya Pradesh currently has 11 sports academies. The minister said the age of 6 to 12 years is important for developing sports skills and with proper training children can grow into good players.
