Continuous rainfall across Maharashtra has led to a sharp rise in the water levels of rivers, streams, and lakes, with water entering homes in several low-lying areas due to flooding. Jalgaon district has been among the worst affected, where four people have lost their lives due to the heavy rains till now. District Collector Rohan Ghuge said nearly 4,000 chickens and 50 livestock animals have also perished in the deluge. Damage assessment of houses, crops, and livestock has begun on a priority basis in Amalner, Chalisgaon, and Parola talukas.

 

In Chandrapur district, the swollen Wardha and Wainganga rivers have created flood-like conditions in Chandrapur city. As floodwaters entered homes in low-lying areas this morning, the district administration shifted several families to safer locations. In Dhule district, the Lati Pada, Malangaon, Kabrya Khadak, and Akkalpada dams in Sakri taluka have reached full capacity. Authorities have started releasing water from some of these reservoirs. Meanwhile, in Gadchiroli district, three boys drowned after entering the Sati River for a bath near Khedegaon in Kurkheda taluka this afternoon.
