Delhi extends Pink Saheli Smart Card deadline till August 16

The Delhi Government has extended the deadline for the mandatory use of the Pink Saheli Smart Card for availing the free travel facility in its buses till the 16th of this month. Under revised decision, the conductors will continue issuing pink tickets till 15th of August. Delhi Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said, the decision has been taken to facilitate a smooth transition to the smart card-based system and ensure that no eligible commuter is inconvenienced during the changeover. He directed all concerned officials, depot managers, regional managers and conductors to intensify public awareness campaigns and assist women passengers in obtaining their Pink Saheli Smart Cards well before the revised deadline. Dr Singh has also directed officials to ensure that no woman commuter is wrongly denied free travel under the existing arrangement up till 15th of this month. The Delhi Government informed that as of today, a total of 17 lakh 4 thousand fourty two Pink Cards have already been issued, reflecting the strong response from women commuters towards the initiative.
