Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi today chaired a review meeting to strengthen the country’s foodgrain storage ecosystem in New Delhi. In a social media post, Mr. Joshi said the meeting reviewed the proposed Storage Policy and the Private Entrepreneurs Guarantee (PEG) Scheme. He said the discussions focused on addressing emerging challenges in foodgrain management, including regional storage imbalances, surplus stock management, optimisation of storage capacity, and the need to revise storage norms in line with current procurement trends. Mr Joshi said that these reforms are aimed at creating a more efficient, scientific and future-ready storage framework that reinforces India’s food security.
