The Government has said that all refineries are operating at high capacity with adequate crude inventories, while sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel are being maintained.
Addressing the Inter-Ministerial Briefing in New Delhi today on recent developments in West Asia, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Sujata Sharma, said that over the past three days, 1.36 crore LPG cylinder bookings have been received, while 1.47 crore cylinders have been delivered.
The Joint Secretary said that around 22 thousand nine hundred forty-five tonnes of commercial LPG have been sold during the same period. She added that about 1.98 lakh 5-kilogram LPG cylinders were sold in the last three days, including nearly nineteen thousand 100 cylinders distributed through 1,334 camps. On PNG expansion, Ms Sharma said that since March, 10.02 lakh PNG connections have been gasified, while infrastructure for 3.22 lakh additional connections has been created. She added that around 9.94 lakh new consumers have also been registered. She further said, 99 thousand one hundred PNG consumers surrendered their LPG connection till yesterday.
Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Opesh Kumar Sharma, said that Malta-flagged LNG carrier DISHA carrying 62 thousand 370 metric tonnes of cargo, is expected to berth at Dahej port in Gujarat tomorrow morning. The ship had crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. Mr Sharma said that Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) has received more than 13 thousand calls from seafarers and 29 thousand emails since activation. He also noted that in the last 72 hours, four hundred 50 calls and one thousand 77 emails have been received from seafarers.
The Director highlighted that the Ministry has facilitated the safe repatriation of more than three thousand 639 Indian seafarers so far, including 47 in the last 72 hours from various locations across the Gulf region. He said that the DG Shipping is closely monitoring the situation and is in continuous coordination with different stakeholders to ensure the safety and welfare of Indian seafarers abroad and provide all necessary assistance. He said that port operations across India remain normal and no congestion is reported.
