The goods worth 140 million are being exported to the United Kingdom from India on the first day of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, Secretary, Commerce and Industry Ministry Rajesh Agarwal said that this agreement is completely aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said, this is one of the most aspirational and biggest trade agreements, which will open up opportunities in market access on both sides. The secretary said that this will not only give a boost to the country’s merchandise trade but also give a boost to services in coming days.
Talking to Akashvani News, High Commissioner of UK to India, Lindy Cameron, said that this agreement is a great deal for both sides. Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) Dr A Sakthivel said that due to this agreement, exports will be doubled in one and a half years.
Tarun Bajaj of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority said this agreement will be beneficial for the agricultural and processing sector. Executive Director of Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council Sabyasachi Ray said that the Gems and Jewellery sector will immensely benefit from this agreement.
