A fresh spell of heavy rain is set to continue across Odisha as a low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal today. The IMD has issued Orange warnings for several districts, with rainfall activity expected to intensify further on Sunday. The weather system is likely to keep Odisha wet over the next five days, with rough sea conditions prompting a warning to fishermen.

Akashvani Correspondent reports that in Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) says an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts is likely to trigger the formation of a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha coast around today. Orange Warning has been issued for Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, with heavy to very heavy rain likely at isolated places.

On Sunday, six districts – Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj – are under Orange Warning. The IMD has also issued a Red Warning for Mayurbhanj on Monday, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain at isolated places. Rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue for the next five days. Sea conditions will remain rough, and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
