External Affair Minister Dr.S Jaishankar has said that during the G20 meeting India is trying to put forth the concerns of the Global South at world stage. He said that due to economic pressure many countries in the region have not been able to continue their economic progress and are struggling to meet their SDGs goals.
In an exclusive interview with Akashvani, Dr. S Jaishankar said that Climate change is one of the major impediment in the development process of these countries. He said the developed nations must come forward to fulfill their commitments towards developing countries by providing funds and green technologies to ensure a level-playing field.
The Minister asserted that the two major divides the G20 have to address are – one is East- West, due to the Ukarian crisis and the second one is North-South. Dr S Jaishankar said that India is now somewhat at the centre stage and we must find answers for both the East-West and the North-South divides. He added that the G20 Summit will have a big responsibility to achieve it.
