EAM Dr S Jaishankar says passport delivery has become completely democratised

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has said that passport delivery has now become completely democratised as it is swift, secure and decentralised.

 

Addressing the Annual Regional Passport Officers’ Conference in New Delhi, Dr Jaishankar said that the passport service is accessible to remotest corner of the nation. He said this shift towards the public expectation is a validation of digital governance. He said, Passport Seva Programme Version 2.0 has truly redefined global mobility for a Viksit Bharat. He said, a passport is not merely a booklet of pages, it is a powerful tool of economic mobility, international trade and national identity. The External Affairs Minister highlighted that the country’s foreign policy establishes India as a Vishwa Bandhu and the Indian passport is treated with respect and with confidence internationally. He said, the responsibility is to ensure that the process of obtaining this document remains a matter of right and not as a struggle.
