Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjeet Singh Sandhu has said that India’s relationship with rivers goes back thousands of years, with its cities, civilisations, literature, music, art and traditions deeply connected with them. The LG said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the seventh Nadi Utsav in New Delhi. He emphasised that the rejuvenation of the Yamuna must be both an environmental and cultural mission, requiring sustained government action, public awareness and a renewed cultural relationship with the river.

 

Organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), the seventh edition of the Nadi Utsav has a special focus on the diverse dimensions of the Yamuna. It includes the Yamuna River’s history, culture, environment, biodiversity, living heritage and socio-cultural life.

 

As part of Nadi Utsav, six exhibitions will remain open to visitors daily from 10 am to 7 pm till 30th of this month. Through these exhibitions, visitors will have an opportunity to explore the Yamuna through diverse contexts of the river, culture, memory, environment and living traditions.
