The deep depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal lay centered 120 km south east of Trincomalee, 370 km south east of Nagapattinam and 470 km south southeast of Puducherry and 550 km south southeast of Chennai according to the Regional Met Department. In its forecast, the Met Department said that the system is likely to move north northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm and will further move north northwest wards towards Tamil Nadu Coast alongside Sri Lanka Coast for the next 48 hours. The Indian Coast Guard has been proactively broadcasting weather updates through radio ,radar stations and loudspeakers on ships and aircrafts . It has also stationed Disaster relief teams at strategic coastal locations.
