CEC calls BLOs direct point of contact for country’s nearly 90 cr voters

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar today called Booth Level Officers (BLOs) the living reflection of the Election Commission for voters, emphasising that India’s electoral process operates strictly under the Constitution, electoral laws, and Commission guidelines. Addressing over 500 BLOs during an interaction program at Gujarat University in Ahmedabad, the Chief Election Commissioner described BLOs as the most critical members of the Election Commission family, serving as the direct point of contact for the country’s nearly 90 crore voters.

Highlighting the transparency of India’s electoral system, Mr Gyanesh Kumar said every stage-from voter registration to polling and counting involves rigorous multi-party verification. He urged BLOs to maintain total accuracy in electoral rolls and ensure every eligible citizen turning 18 is enrolled. Expressing complete confidence in the ground-level network of over 11 lakh BLOs nationwide, he commended their dedication in ensuring fair and error-free voter lists.
