प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने इटली के अपुलिया में जी-7 शिखर सम्मेलन के क्रम में, इटली की प्रधानमंत्री जॉर्जिया मेलोनी के साथ बैठक की। दोनों नेताओं ने प्रतिरक्षा और सुरक्षा सहयोग पर चर्चा की और आशा व्यक्त की कि रक्षा संबंधी औद्योगिक सहयोग में और अधिक वृद्धि होगी। दोनों नेताओं ने भारत और इटली के बीच रणनीतिक साझेदारी की प्रगति की समीक्षा भी की। उन्होंने स्वच्छ ऊर्जा, विनिर्माण, अंतरिक्ष, विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी, दूरसंचार, यांत्रिक बुद्धिमत्ता और महत्वपूर्ण खनिजों में वाणिज्यिक संबंधों को बढ़ाने की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया। उन्होंने हाल ही में औद्योगिक संपदा अधिकार संबंधी समझौता-ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए जाने का स्वागत किया। यह ज्ञापन में पेटेंट, डिजाइन और ट्रेडमार्क में सहयोग का ख़ाका पेश किया गया है।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, yesterday, on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit in Apulia, Italy. Mr Modi said that bilateral ties with Japan will continue to receive priority in his third term. India and Japan are collaborating on several important areas including the landmark Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project and India-Japan Industrial Competitiveness Partnership. The meeting between the two Prime Ministers provided an opportunity to review some of these ongoing works of cooperation.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has granted sanction to prosecute author Arundhati Roy under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). She, along with former Professor in Central University of Kashmir, Dr. Sheikh Showkat Hussain have been sanctioned for prosecution under section 45 of UAPA for their alleged ‘provocative’ speech at an event in New Delhi in 2010. The complainant had alleged that Ms Roy and Mr Hussain made provocative speeches at a conference organised under the banner of ‘Azadi – The Only Way’ in October 2010 in New Delhi.

विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग ने कहा है कि उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों को सभी निरस्त दाखिलों या माइग्रेशन के मामले में 30 सितंबर तक पूरी फीस लौटानी होगी। आयोग की यह नीति चालू शिक्षा सत्र के लिए है। आयोग ने यह कदम दाख़िला रद्द करने या नाम वापस लेने पर फीस लौटाने के संबंध में छात्रों और अभिभावकों की शिकायतों को देखते हुए उठाया है। यह नीति केंद्रीय या राज्य अधिनियमों के तहत सभी उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों, आयोग से मान्यता-प्राप्त संस्थानों, सम-विश्वविद्यालयों और दाखिला परामर्श में शामिल संगठनों पर लागू होगी। आयोग ने यह भी कहा कि इस वर्ष 30 सितंबर से 31 अक्टूबर के बीच रिफंड जारी किया जाएगा और प्रोसेसिंग शुल्क के रूप में अधिकतम एक हजार रुपये की कटौती की जा सकेगी। 31 अक्टूबर के बाद के दाखिले के लिए, अक्टूबर-2018 के प्रावधान लागू होंगे। आयोग ने कहा है कि इस नीति का उल्लंघन करने वाले संस्थानों पर दंडात्मक कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

A two-day ‘Nepal International Tourism Expo (NITE)’ kick started in Kathmandu valley yesterday, organised to promote Nepal’s tourism in the international market. Inaugurating the fair, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, expressed the belief that the fair would be fruitful in promoting Nepal’s tourism worldwide. Minister Tamang underscored that the ministry has been carrying out activities with a commitment to fulfil the government’s goal of bringing in at least 1.6 million tourists this year by resolving problems seen in the tourism sector. Sharing that activities are underway to waive VAT and other unnecessary taxes imposed on air tickets.

भारत का विदेशी मुद्रा भण्डार 4 अरब तीन सौ सात करोड़ डॉलर बढकर अपने उच्चतम स्तर छह सौ 55 अरब 817 करोड़ डॉलर हो गया। इसके पिछले सप्ताह में मुद्रा भंडार चार अरब 837 करोड़ डॉलर बढ़कर छह सौ 51 अरब 51 करोड़ डॉलर हो गया था। मुद्रा भंडार का पिछला उच्चतम स्तर 10 मई को छह सौ 48 अरब 87 करोड़ डॉलर का था। विदेशी मुद्रा भंडार में पिछले कुछ हफ्तों में अच्छी वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है।

The Madras High Court has wondered whether labrador retriever dog breeds can be classified as ferocious and banned since a child was attacked by the dog in a recent incident. Justice Anita Sumanth said that identifying ferocious dog breeds should be a collective process and it should be contained. The Court made the observation while hearing a plea moved by Kennel club of India against the notification issued by the Union Government banning import and breeding of certain dog breeds in the Country.

Chennai Metro Rail limited has given advertising rights to a private firm to put up advertising rights to Mudra Ventures through a tender process. The CMRL said that this will be one of the major alternative revenue generations for CMRL along with other mediums of advertising and retail and office space portfolios which would help in covering the operational expenses. It would float a tender for piers and portal advertising rights for New Washermenpet -Wimco Nagar depot metro alignment shortly.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has underscored the need to improve the Human Development Index in Kalyan Karnataka region which comes in the north east part of the state. While reviewing the progress of programmes of Kalyan Karnataka Regional Development Board in a meeting in Bengaluru yesterday, the Chief Minister noted that emphasis should be laid on areas lagging behind and the living conditions should improve in this region. He said infrastructure development must be one of the priorities. He asked the district in charge ministers and district in charge Secretaries to review the progress in the region once in a month and report to the board.

In Telangana, the Cyberabad Traffic Police in partnership with Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) has announced deployment of ‘Third Eye Traffic Monitoring Drone’ capability. The Cyberabad traffic police informed that the cutting-edge unmanned aerial surveillance vehicle (UASV) sets in motion a significant stride towards enhanced traffic management system in the region. The Third Eye Traffic Monitoring Drone will enable real-time updates of traffic flow and related issues, allowing Traffic Police teams to address them rapidly and ensure smoother commuting for road users. An official release stated that the Third Eye will optimize traffic management strategies, ultimately contributing to improved road safety and efficiency across Cyberabad Police Limits.

विश्व रक्तदान दिवस के अवसर पर अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान – एम्स दिल्ली में रक्तदान शिविर का आयोजन किया गया। इस शिविर में दो सौ से अधिक लोगों ने रक्तदान किया। यह शिविर भारतीय तटरक्षक बल, राष्ट्रीय आपदा मोचन बल और दिल्ली पुलिस के सहयोग से किया गया। एम्स ने सभी रक्तदाताओं का आभार व्यक्त करते हुए उन्हें दूसरों की जिन्दगी बचाने के लिए सुपर हीरो बताया।

राजधानी में मनोरंजन गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए दिल्ली नगर निगम ने लाइसेंस जारी करने की प्रक्रिया आरंभ कर दी है। इसके अंतर्गत बैंक्वेट हॉल, खाना-पान की दुकानें, अस्थाई जगहों पर टैंट और खुले स्थानों पर मनोरंजन जैसी गतिविधियों के लिए लाइसेंस दिया जाएगा। संगीत, गायन, नृत्य और वर्चुअल प्रदर्शनी जैसी गतिविधियों के आयोजन के लिए भी लाइसेंस जारी किये जायेंगे। इसके लिए निगम ने पंजीकरण शुल्क पंद्रह हजार रुपए और वार्षिक शुल्क दस हजार रुपए निर्धारित किया है।

दिल्ली में अंतरराष्ट्रीय मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी करने वाले एक गिरोह का भंडाफोड़ करते हुए 20 करोड़ रुपये के नशीले पदार्थ जब्त किए गए हैं। विशेष सेल ने एक बयान में कहा है कि इस मामले में दो लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है जो नाइजीरिया और आइवरी कोस्ट के हैं। दोनों दिल्ली-एनसीआर से देश के विभिन्न हिस्सों में ड्रग्स की आपूर्ति करते थे। गिरफ्तारी के दौरान लगभग 6 किलोग्राम मेथमफेटामाइन जब्त किया गया है। जांच से पता चला है कि वे अवैध दस्तावेजों का प्रयोग कर भारत में रह रहे हैं।

मुंबई अंतरराष्ट्रीय फिल्म फेस्टिवल – MIFF आज से शुरू हो रहा है। मुंबई में यह आयोजन इस महीने की 21 तारीख तक किया जाएगा। यह फिल्म महोत्सव ‘बिली एंड मौली: एन ओटर लव स्टोरी’ जैसी फिल्मों की स्क्रीनिंग से प्रारंभ होगा। यह फिल्म आज दिल्ली, कोलकाता, चेन्नई और पुणे में एक साथ प्रदर्शित की जाएगी।

पश्चिम बंगाल के सभी वन्यजीव अभयारण्य और राष्ट्रीय उद्यान कल से बंद कर दिये जायेंगे। जंगली जानवरों की प्रजनन गतिविधियों और जंगलों में अंकुरण के कारण हाथी सफारी सहित सभी पर्यटन गतिविधियों और सफारी पर तीन महीने के लिए प्रतिबंध रहेगा। जंगल 15 सितंबर से फिर से खोल दिए जाएंगे। इस संबंध में वन विभाग ने अधिसूचना जारी कर दी है।

1947 : भारत 200 साल की अंग्रेजी हुकूमत की पीडा झेलने के बाद जब आजादी के उजियारे की तरफ बढ रहा था तब इसके सामने बंटवारे के रूप में दुख, संघर्ष और टकराव के घनघोर काले बादल भी आ गए थे। देश के बंटवारे को इतिहास की सबसे दुखद घटनाओं में से एक माना जाता है। बंटवारे के दुखद इतिहास में 15 जून इसलिए महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि कांग्रेस ने 1947 में 14-15 जून को नयी दिल्ली में हुए अपने अधिवेशन में बंटवारे के प्रस्ताव को इसी दिन मंजूरी दी थी। अंग्रेज आजादी के बहाने भारत को एक ऐसा जख्म दे गए जो कभी नहीं भरने वाला। इस बंटवारे में लगभग 2 करोड लोग विस्थापित हुए और लगभग 10 लाख लोग मारे गए।

हिन्दी फ़िल्मों की सुप्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री और गायिका सुरैया की आज जयंती है। सुरैया को अपने दौर की बेहद खूबसूरत अभिनेत्रियों में से एक माना जाता है। इनका पूरा नाम सुरैया जमाल शेख़ था। सुरैया ने 40 और 50 के दशक में अदाओं में नज़ाकत, गायकी में नफ़ासत, अपने हुस्न और हुनर से हिंदी सिनेमा के इतिहास में एक नई इबारत लिखी। पुराने गीतों को पसंद करने वाले सुरैया के गाए गीतों – नुक़्ताचीं है ग़मे दिल, और दिल ए नादां तुझे हुआ क्या है को सुनकर उनकी मखमली आवाज में खो जाते हैं। देव आनंद के साथ उनकी फ़िल्में ‘जीत’ (1949) और ‘दो सितारे’ (1951) ख़ास रहीं। देव आनंद ने अपनी आत्मकथा ‘रोमांसिंग विद लाइफ’ में सुरैया के साथ अपने रिश्ते की बात कबूली है। वह लिखते हैं कि सुरैया की आँखें बहुत ख़ूबसूरत थीं। वह बड़ी गायिका भी थीं। उनकी प्रमुख फिल्मों में शमा, मिर्ज़ा ग़ालिब, कमल के फूल, अनमोल घड़ी, हमारी बात को याद कर सकते हैं।

Today is the birthday of Manika Batra, an Indian table tennis player. She is the top female table tennis player in India and ranks world number 24 in ITTF as of May 2024. She was awarded the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 2020.
A Commonwealth Games gold medallist, a two-time Olympian and winner of multiple other honours, Manika Batra is one of the true stars of Indian table tennis.
Table tennis was her first love and she had begun playing with her siblings from an early age.

Little is known about Lisa’s life. Lisa was born in Florence. She married in her teens to a cloth and silk merchant who later became a local official; she was a mother to six children and led what is thought to have been a comfortable and ordinary life.

हिन्दी सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध संगीतकारों में से एक सज्जाद हुसैन को भी हम याद कर रहे हैं जिनकी आज जयंती है। शास्त्रीय संगीत की झलक उनके धुनों में मिलती है। सज्जाद हुसैन ने अपनी किशोरावस्था में वीणा, वायलिन, बांसुरी और पियानो सीखा। उन्होंने अपने पिता मोहम्मद अमीर खान से सितार सीखा। ‘संगदिल’, ‘सैयां’, ‘खेल’, ‘हलचल’ और ‘रुस्तम-सोहराब’ जैसी फ़िल्मों में अनूठा संगीत देने में सफल रहे सज्जाद, दरअसल उस ज़माने में पार्श्वगायकों व गायिकाओं के लिए कठिन संगीत निर्देशक थे, जिनकी धुनों को निभा ले जाना सबके हौसले से परे की चीज़ थी। संगदिल और दोस्त फिल्मों में भी सज्जाद हुसैन की धुनों में सजे गीत आज भी लोगों को गुनगुनाने पर मजबूर कर देते हैं।
भारत रत्न लता मंगेशकर ने कहा था कि “मैं सज्जाद साहब की ‘संगदिल’ के गीतों को अपने कॅरियर में एक बड़ी उपलब्धि के रूप में देखती हूँ। ‘ऐ दिलरुबा नज़रें मिला’ लगभग ऑफ़ बीट संगीत का सुन्दरतम उदाहरण है। यह फ़िल्म एक हद तक सज्जाद हुसैन द्वारा संगीतबद्ध सबसे उल्लेखनीय फ़िल्म के रूप में याद की जा सकती है, जिसमें संगीतकार ने लता जी के अलावा दो अन्य महत्वपूर्ण पार्श्वगायिकाओं से दो अप्रतिम गीत गवाए हैं। इसमें सुरैया की आवाज़ में ‘ये कैसी अज़ब दास्ताँ हो गयी है’ और आशा भोंसले की आवाज़ में ‘अब देर हो गयी वल्लाह’ को याद किया जा सकता है।

भारत के सुप्रसिद्ध ध्रुपद गायक ज़िया फ़रीदुद्दीन डागर को भी स्मरण कर हैं, जिनकी आज जयंती है। ध्रुपद शैली के गायन को पुनर्जीवित करने में फ़रीदुद्दीन की अहम भूमिका मानी जाती है। फ़रीदुद्दीन का जन्म 15 जून 1932 को राजस्थान के उदयपुर में हुआ था, जहां उनके पिता उदयपुर के महाराणा भूपाल सिंह के दरबार में संगीतज्ञ थे। फ़रीदुद्दीन ने देश विदेश के कई बड़े उत्सवों में अपनी कला का प्रदर्शन किया था। उन्होंने संगीत की शिक्षा अपने पिता उस्ताद ज़ियाउद्दीन खान से ली। पिता ने उन्हें ध्रुपद गायन और वीणा वादन में प्रशिक्षित किया। पिता की मृत्यु के बाद उन्होंने अपने बड़े भाई से संगीत की शिक्षा ली। मध्य प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा उन्हें तानसेन सम्मान दिया गया। 1994 में संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार से वे सम्मानित किए गए। उन्हें भारत सरकार द्वारा 2012 में पद्म श्री से सम्मानित करने की घोषणा की गई पर उन्होंने सम्मान लेने से इंकार कर दिया। उनका कहना था कि सरकार ने उनसे जूनियर ध्रुपद गायकों यह सम्मान पहले ही दे दिया था।

भारत के प्रसिद्ध क्रान्तिकारियों में से एक तारकनाथ दास को आज देश नमन कर रहा है। अरविन्द घोष, सुरेन्द्रनाथ बनर्जी तथा चितरंजन दास इनके घनिष्ठ मित्रों में से थे। क्रान्तिकारी गतिविधियों के कारण इन्होंने अपनी पढ़ाई बीच में छोड़ दी थी, लेकिन बाद में पुन: अध्ययन प्रारम्भ कर इन्होंने पी.एच. डी. की उपाधि प्राप्त की थी। तारकनाथ दास पर अमेरिका में मुकदमा चला था, जहाँ इन्हें क़ैद की सज़ा सुनाई गई थी। तारकनाथ दास का जन्म 15 जून, 1884 ई. में बंगाल के 24 परगना ज़िले में हुआ था। तारकनाथ दास बड़े प्रतिभाशाली विद्यार्थी थे। छात्र-जीवन में ही उनका संपर्क अरविन्द घोष, सुरेन्द्रनाथ बनर्जी और चितरंजन दास जैसे नेताओं से हुआ।
देशभक्ति के रंग में रंगे इन नेताओं के सम्पर्क में आकर तारकनाथ दास क्रान्तिकारी आंदोलन में सम्मिलित हो गए और देश के क्रान्तिकारी सिपाही बन गए। उन्होंने अपना अध्ययन बीच में ही छोड़ दिया और ‘अनुशीलन समिति’ तथा ‘युगांतर पार्टी’ के कार्यों में सक्रिय भाग लेने लगे, लेकिन शीघ्र ही अंग्रेज़ पुलिस उनके पीछे पड़ गई। पुलिस के पीछे लग जाने पर युवा तारकनाथ 1905 ई. में साधु का वेश बनाकर ‘तारक ब्रह्मचारी’ के नाम से जापान चले गए। ‘इंडिया इंस्टिट्यूट’ और कोलम्बिया का ‘तारकनाथ दास फ़ाउंडेशन’ दो ऐसी संस्थाएं अस्तित्व में आईं। वे कुछ समय तक कोलम्बिया यूनिवर्सिटी में राजनीति शास्त्र के प्रोफ़ेसर भी रहे। लम्बे अंतराल के बाद 1952 में वे भारत आए और कोलकाता में ‘विवेकानंद सोसाइटी’ की स्थापना की। इस महान् देश-भक्त का 22 दिसंबर, 1958 को निधन हो गया।

Today is the death anniversary of John Leslie “Wes” Montgomery, an American jazz guitarist. Montgomery was known for his unusual technique of plucking the strings with the side of his thumb, and for his extensive use of octaves, which gave him a distinctive sound.
Montgomery often worked with his brothers Buddy and Monk and with organist Melvin Rhyne. His recordings up to 1965 were oriented towards hard bop, soul jazz, and post bop, but around 1965 he began recording more pop-oriented instrumental albums that found mainstream success. His later guitar style influenced jazz fusion and smooth jazz.
