Bharatiya Janata Party’s Punjab unit has launched statewide “Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatras” under the tagline “Bhajpa Da Naara, Nasha Mukauna Saara”. The yatra which will commence in four-phases will mobilise people across all 117 Assembly constituencies and turn the fight against drugs into a mass public movement.
BJP’s State President Kewal Singh Dhillon, while announcing this 13-days long campaign during a press conference in Chandigarh today, said that Party’s National President Nitin Nabin will flag off the first Yatra on 18th September from Ekta Sthal, Madhopur, in Pathankot district. The yatra will conclude on September 30th at Jalandhar.
Dhillon said the Yatra will focus on three major challenges confronting Punjab today. These are growing drug menace, deteriorating law and order, and corruption at every level of governance, from top to the bottom. Dhillon said that it is not merely an anti-drug awareness Yatra, but an attempt to confront the grave threat that drugs pose to Punjabiyat, our culture, values, courage and the proud identity of the land of the Gurus.
National Vice President Manpreet Badal said that drug menace is not merely a human tragedy but a concern for national security as well.
Former State President Sunil Jakhar and Former State President & MLA Ashwani Sharma also addressed the press conference.
