The audit process for panchayats in Madhya Pradesh is now going fully digital. The state government has launched the DRASHTI (Digital Remote Auditing System for Transparency & Insights) for this. This is a unique initiative in the country, aimed at fully digital, remote financial audits of panchayats. Through this platform, auditors can view and check the income and expenditure records of any panchayat from their own home or office.
The platform is developed by the Directorate of Panchayati Raj, with technical support from NIC, under the guidance of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. It will make the financial audit of over 23,000 gram panchayats in the state faster, simpler and more transparent. Even with limited staff, all panchayats can now be audited on time.
Along with this, a payment gateway has also been launched on the Panchayat Darpan portal. This will allow citizens to pay their bills online.
