In Andhara Pradesh, four persons lost their lives in the boat capsize incident in the Krishna River near Konuru village in Palnadu district. Six persons on board were rescued safely. According to officials, the boat overturned after reportedly hitting a sandbank.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep grief over the incident. Currently on an official visit to Singapore, Mr. Naidu reviewed the situation with senior officials over the phone. He announced an ex gratia of five lakh rupees each for the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister has ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident and directed authorities to recommend measures to prevent such accidents in future.
