The nation pays tribute to former president and renowned scientist Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary today. He played a crucial role in India’s space and missile development programmes. Dr. Abdul Kalam is also known as the ‘Missile Man of India’. He died on this day in 2015.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid tributes to the former President and Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary today. In a social media post, Mr Birla said that Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was a visionary dreamer for a developed, self-reliant, and strong India. He said that the contribution of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in taking indigenous missile and space programmes to new heights is etched in golden letters in the history of Indian science.

The Lok Sabha Speaker added that Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam made knowledge, discipline, simplicity, and national service the foundation of his life. He also said that Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam awakened confidence, innovation, and the spirit of nation-building in millions of youth across the country. He further emphasised that the thoughts of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam continue to inspire youth to remain dedicated to their goals.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today paid tributes via a social media post. The home minister called Dr APJ Abdul Kalam the architect of India’s space and missile programmes. Mr Shah added that Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s excellence in the field of science lit India’s path to becoming a formidable strategic power, and his wisdom illuminated millions of lives by inspiring them to achieve greatness. He further said that Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Kalam will always remain a role model for the patriots.
