AI & robotics will enhance testing infrastructure, increase accuracy and traceability: Secretary Consumer Affairs

Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, Nidhi Khare, today said that the government will begin using Artificial Intelligence and robotics to enhance the testing infrastructure. The Secretary was speaking at the 15th edition of FICCI MASSMERIZE in New Delhi. Ms Khare said that such infrastructure will help reduce costs of testing samples, thereby increasing accuracy and traceability.

Highlighting increasing awareness among consumers, Ms Khare said that the department is receiving five times more complaints as compared to five years ago. She said it is receiving over three lakh complaints on repair or replacements every month. Ms Khare noted that consumers are waking up to the Jago Grahak Jago, demanding better systems to answer their queries, problems and proper redressal of their grievances. She informed that e-Jagriti portal of the Department of Consumer Affairs has seen over four lakhs registrations till last year, including over four thousand NRIs from more than 60 countries.
