As many as 290 people from Maharashtra stranded in different parts of Nepal following devastating flash floods have been confirmed safe, while 60 others remain untraceable, a state government official said today.
Of the 395 Maharashtra residents confirmed to have been in Nepal during the disaster, 105 are already on their way back to India, while the state control room has established contact with the remaining 290, who are safe but stranded.
The 60 untraceable tourists were part of a Nepal tour organised by Mumbai-based Richa Tours Pvt Ltd.
Meanwhile, 37 Maharashtra pilgrims stranded in Tibet after completing the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra left for Kathmandu today morning following intervention by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
