Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) candidate K. Laltluangkima has secured a Rajya Sabha seat from Mizoram. He defeated Mizo National Front (MNF) candidate Zothansangi Hmar by 16 votes in the Rajya Sabha election held yesterday in the state Assembly in Aizawl. Of the 40 members of the Legislative Assembly, 36 cast their votes; Laltluangkima secured 26 votes while Zothansangi Hmar received 10. Speaking after his victory, Laltluangkima said he would work closely with the Mizoram Government and make every effort to help ensure the successful implementation of various government initiatives.
