In further escalation of the ongoing conflict in Yemen, the Houthi group claimed missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia and government-held areas of Yemen this morning. The Houthis said drones targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, disrupting air traffic, while ballistic missiles and drones targeted Abha International Airport and the Khamis Mushait military base. The Saudi-led coalition, meanwhile, said it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched towards Khamis Mushait, as well as another missile north of Riyadh. The coalition also said it was tracking the missile launch platform in the skies over Sanaa and would destroy it.
In Yemen, the Transport Ministry in Aden said the Houthis targeted Aden International Airport with two ballistic missiles and several explosive-laden drones. The ministry said one missile landed near the runway minutes before the scheduled landing of Yemen Airways flight 603 from Cairo. Houthi-affiliated media agencies, citing Houthi military sources, reported that Saudi military supplies at Badr Camp near Aden International Airport were targeted.
Meanwhile, the UAE Foreign Ministry in a statement, strongly condemned Houthi attacks on civilians and civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia, as well as Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Bab Al Mandab Strait. The UAE reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures to protect its security and stability.
