A yellow warning has been issued for parts of North Bengal, where heavy rain is forecast today. Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri are under the warning, with gusty winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour likely in six districts.

In southern parts of West Bengal, rainfall is likely to decrease from today, though isolated light to moderate showers may occur.

Intermittent rain has affected normal life in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly and South 24 Parganas since early morning. Alipore recorded over 27 millimetres of rain till 6:30 this morning.

A yellow warning for thunderstorms, rain and gusty winds is also in force in North 24 Parganas for the next two to three hours.
