Women & Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi meets Nigerian Minister Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim in New Delhi

Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi today met Nigerian Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, in New Delhi. During the meeting, the Minister reaffirmed the shared commitment of India and Nigeria towards strengthening cooperation in the areas of women’s and child development. Ms Devi said that Nigeria’s participation as a partner country brings a valuable voice from Africa to the shared work for the Global South in BRICS 2026. She shared her views on the power of women’s collectives, gender mainstreaming, and leveraging women’s collectives to promote entrepreneurship and drive financial inclusion.

The Nigerian Minister said that she looks forward to knowledge exchange and to learning from India’s best practices, including in the areas of women’s collectives and skilling, financing women’s entrepreneurship, nutrition support, women-led governance and the care economy. The two Ministers also discussed areas of mutual interest, including clean energy, social protection and national care systems.
