India’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation rose to 9.87 per cent in June on an annual basis from 9.68 per cent registered in May this year. As per Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Mineral Oils, food Articles, manufacture of basic metals, and manufacture of Chemicals and Chemical Products, have been major drivers of WPI inflation last month.
Among the major categories, inflation in Primary Articles rose sharply to 7 per cent in June from 4.99 per cent in May. Inflation in Fuel and Power eased to 27.41 per cent from over 30 per cent. Manufactured Products recorded an inflation rate of 7.48 per cent, unchanged from May.
The WPI Food Index increased to 6.14 per cent in June as compared to 4.49 per cent in May this year. Output PPI for June stands at 109.9, whereas it was 109.6 in May.
