West Bengal witnesses several rallies and protests against Kolkata rape and murder case demanding justice

West Bengal is still witnessing ongoing protests against the brutal rape and murder at the R G Kar medical college and hospital and demand for justice for the victim. The city witnessed a number of rallies even today. Artists, doctors, students and common people took part in a rally of the civil society. The march began from College Square to end at Dharmatalla. Actors Aparna Sen, Chaiti Ghosal, Swastika Mukherjee, Ushashie Chakraborty, director Srijit Mukherjee, singer Lagnajita and others participated in it. Representatives from the civil society is sitting in ‘dharna’ at Dharmatalla for the entire night.

 

Ex-students of Ramkrishna Mission also took to the streets. They started from Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark at South Kolkata. The silent procession ended at Nandan at central Kolkata. The participants wore black dresses and carried placards containing messages of Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda and Ma Sarada.

 

A rally of the ex-students of 10 schools of South Kolkata marched from Lansdown to Hazra crossing. Meanwhile, the junior doctors gave a call of ‘Lalbazar Abhiyan’ tomorrow. They also urged the citizens to stand up with a candle at home on Wednesday night, on the eve of the Supreme Court’s hearing of the case. Besides, R G Kar medical college and hospital, junior doctors have launched ‘Abhaya Clinic’ at six more places in Kolkata.

 

It may be mentioned that the junior doctors had started an ‘Abhaya Clinic’ at R G Kar yesterday. It has been announced that telemedicine service at free of cost will be rendered from the centre.
