West Bengal unveils Investment Promotion Policy 2026

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari today unveiled the state government’s Investment Promotion Policy, 2026, aimed at attracting investment, accelerating industrial growth and generating employment opportunities. The policy seeks to improve the ease of doing business through simplified procedures, faster clearances and a streamlined approval mechanism.

It proposes incentives to promote employment generation, with particular emphasis on the recruitment of women and transgender persons. Strengthening the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector is also among its key objectives.

The policy envisages a single-window online clearance system to facilitate applications, approvals, financial assistance and grievance redressal within stipulated timelines.

To address industrial land requirements, the government plans to develop land banks through direct land purchases, land pooling and the utilisation of unused industrial land. Incentives have also been proposed to encourage industries in economically less-developed regions of the state.

The policy identifies several priority sectors, including semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, electric vehicles, green hydrogen, defence production, textiles, food processing, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

It also seeks to encourage research and development, technological innovation and collaboration between industries and academic institutions. Eligible industrial units will receive financial assistance for research and development activities.

The Chief Minister said the policy is aimed at positioning West Bengal as a major investment destination and strengthening the state’s industrial ecosystem.
