West Bengal Medical Council cancels registrations of Bihar doctors accused of using fake documents

The West Bengal Medical Council has cancelled the registrations of five doctors accused of using fake documents from Bihar to obtain medical registration in the state.

The action follows a complaint by Rajib Pandey, secretary of the Association of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes.

The Health Department is also probing the matter to identify other doctors with fraudulent credentials.

Mr Pandey has separately complained to the Bidhannagar Police Commissioner against senior officials of the Medical Council, alleging that the number of fake doctor registrations had risen over the past few years without effective action. He has further alleged that the malpractice expanded with the Council’s support.
