West Bengal Minister of Labour & Transport, Arjun Singh, held an important meeting at the Uttarkanya Secretariat, Siliguri, today. He discussed the issues concerning the welfare of Tea Garden workers, particularly in the shut-down tea gardens of the North Bengal districts. 

 

The meeting was attended by the MPs, MLAs, representatives of various tea garden workers’ unions, management of closed tea gardens, and senior Labour Department and Provident Fund department officials. 

 

Mr Arjun Singh reviewed the status of payment of salary, bonus, gratuity, and Provident Fund-related issues of Tea Garden Workers.  

 

Addressing the meeting, he said, ‘Chief Minister Mr Suvendu Adhikari remains committed to the welfare of tea garden workers and the revival of closed gardens in North Bengal.’

 

The Minister has directed all stakeholders to strictly follow legal procedures going forward.
