In West Bengal, active Monsoon clouds, presence of seasonal trough and strong moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal are likely to cause heavy to very heavy rainfall over districts adjacent to the Himalayas from today. Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly East Bardhaman, East and West Medinipur districts will witness heavy rainfall from today.
Many areas of Kolkata and suburbs, and some southern districts of West Bengal, experienced heavy rainfall yesterday, leading to water logging in busy office times. Heavy rainfall followed by landslides has been reported from many places in the Darjeeling district. The makeshift Dudhia iron bridge connecting Siliguri to Mirik of Darjeeling collapsed due to the heavy rain.
