In West Bengal, the headquarters of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) at Mayapur is all set to get a new look, with the state government planning to develop the Nadia district town as an international-standard religious and tourist destination. According to Urban Development Department sources, the project will be developed on around 2,100 bighas of land near the ISKCON temple.
Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul recently visited the temple and held a meeting with government officials and ISKCON representatives to discuss the development plan.
The proposed infrastructure will include improved roads and public transport, better waste management and lighting, and modern facilities for pilgrims and tourists.
The government also plans to bring Nabadwip under the Smart City project and develop the area with modern urban infrastructure.
