West Bengal government will clear the outstanding dearness allowance of state government employees in a single payment before Durga Puja. Finance Department has announced that DA arrears for the seven-year period from April 2008 to December 2015 will be paid in full, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions. The payment is expected to be made by the end of this month.

For Group A to Group C employees, the arrears will be credited to their GPF accounts. Those due to retire within three months and Group D employees will receive the amount directly in their bank accounts. Group A to Group C employees will be able to withdraw the arrears from their GPF accounts after March 31, 2028.

The government had earlier cleared DA arrears for the period from January 2016 to December 2019. With the latest payment, the state government has now cleared the outstanding DA arrears of its serving employees for the period from 2008 to 2019.
