Flood-like situations developed in the southern districts of West Bengal as rivers in Bankura, Purulia, and West Medinipur districts of South Bengal breached their embankments, and many bridges and causeways are underwater after incessant rainfall in the upper catchment areas.
An alert has been issued in the lower basin areas of Damodar river in Paschim Bardhaman district. The Damodar Valley Corporation DVC has released excess water from the Maithan and Panchet reservoirs. Flood like situations developed in Asansol and Barnpur cities.
