West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari laid the foundation stone for the expansion of a steel manufacturing unit at Mejia in Bankura district yesterday.
The expansion project, involving an investment of 15 thousand crore rupees, is expected to generate, directly and indirectly, employment opportunities for nearly 10 thousand people. The project is also likely to spur the growth of ancillary industries and give a boost to the industrial and economic development of Bankura and adjoining districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said, the government was committed to creating an investor-friendly ecosystem and assured industrialists that the state would provide the environment they sought. He also promised improved law and order, easier land availability and employment-linked incentives in West Bengal.
Mr Adhikari said, with the change in government and favourable conditions in West Bengal, investors are returning to the state. He said the government welcomes all investors willing to participate in the state’s development. Mr Adhikari also announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will virtually inaugurate a 700-crore-rupee Amul dairy plant at Dhulagarh in West Bengal tomorrow.
