West Bengal: Chief Executive of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Anit Thapa resigns

In West Bengal, the Chief Executive of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), Anit Thapa, has resigned from the post. He has also resigned from the councillor post. Along with Thapa almost his all party councillors have also resigned. This development took place after the West Bengal Chief Minister Mr. Suvendu Adhikari, while addressing a public rally at Kurseong under Darjeeling district yesterday announced that the alleged corruption in GTA would be investigated and the culprits would be punished.

The Gorkhaland Territorial  Administration GTA officially formed on August 2, 2012 following a tripartite agreement between the  Government of India, the Government of West Bengal and the then agitating Gorkha Janmukti Morcha -GJM. During the recent 2026 state assembly election BJP has promised to resolve the long pending Gorkhas issues within the framework of Indian Constitution with an amicable permanent political solution.
