Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that the upcoming Multimodal Logistics Park at Sindi Railway in Wardha district will open new avenues for international trade and employment in Vidarbha.
The facility will enable local agricultural and industrial products to reach overseas markets more efficiently through the Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
Gadkari was speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the project at Sindi Railway. The 150-acre facility is being developed near Sindi Railway station by National Highways Logistics Management Limited, a special purpose vehicle of the National Highways Authority of India, in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority. AMARA TRANZ Solution is undertaking the project’s construction.
The logistics park is expected to facilitate exports of cotton, cotton lint, yarn, oranges and vegetables from Vidarbha to international markets. It will also help reduce transit time and improve the efficiency of freight movement along the Mumbai-Colombo-Dhaka route.
The project is expected to strengthen Vidarbha’s logistics network, provide better access to international markets for local producers and generate employment opportunities in transportation, warehousing and related services.
