Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated Indian chess players on defending the prestigious Nona Gaprindashvili Trophy at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

In a social media post, the Vice President said the Open Team’s Silver and the Women’s Team’s Bronze, along with six individual medals, reflect the exceptional talent, dedication and competitive spirit of the country’s chess players. He extended his wishes to B. Savitha, Divya Deshmukh, Vantika Agrawal, Koneru Humpy, D. Gukesh and R. Praggnanandhaa on their remarkable individual achievements.

PM Modi said their passion and determination are exemplary. He wished that these successes would motivate several more youngsters to play chess and excel.
