Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan today paid floral tributes to poet-saint Subramania Bharati on his remembrance day. In a social media post, the Vice President said that the poet has extolled the unity and grandeur of this vast Indian nation through his verse.
He said that Bharatiyar’s words continue to resonate in the hearts with undiminished vigor across the ages. Mr Radhakrishnan urged citizens to honour the memory of Mr Bharatiyar, who championed noble ideals such as patriotism, equality, and women’s advancement through his poetry and his life. He added that citizens should contribute ceaselessly to realising his envisioned dreams, forging a strong Bharat replete with unity and harmony.
The Vice President also paid floral tributes to Immanuel Sekaran on his remembrance day. He said that Mr Sekaran participated in the freedom struggle at a young age and continued to strive tirelessly even after independence to establish equality and social justice.
Lauding his courage Mr Radhakrishnan said that Mr Sekaran boldly raised his voice against social discrimination and worked with dedication for the rights of the people. The Vice President noted that his ideals of creating a society filled with equality, social justice, and harmony are forever worthy of remembrance.
