Sikkim is celebrating its 51st Statehood day today. Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan will grace the main Statehood Day Celebrations function this afternoon at Manan Kendra in Gangtok. Governor Om Prakash Mathur, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Golay, Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will also to attend the event. During the event, the Vice-President will also launch and lay foundation stone of multiple DoNER projects. Sikkim Statehood Day is being celebrated annually on this day to commemorate the day in 1975 when the Himalayan kingdom officially integrated with India.
