Vice President CP Radhakrishnan today paid tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his martyrdom day. In a social media post, the Vice President said Dharti Aaba’s life symbolised courage, self-respect and an unwavering commitment to justice. He highlighted the historic Ulgulan movement and said that Bhagwan Birsa Munda awakened the spirit of resistance against oppression and inspired tribal communities to safeguard their rights, identity and dignity.

 

The Vice President remembered his visit to Birsa Munda’s sacred birthplace, Ulihatu, after assuming office as Governor of Jharkhand and again as Vice President. Mr Radhakrishnan said that Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s sacrifice and ideals continue to guide the nation in its pursuit of social justice, empowerment and inclusive development.
