Vice President C P Radhakrishnan has extended his greetings and best wishes to all citizens of the country on the occasion of 80th Independence Day. He said the countrymen bowed in gratitude to the freedom fighters and national heroes whose sacrifice and steadfast commitment for the freedom. He saluted the generations of Indians who have contributed to the nation’s progress and strengthened the foundations of the democracy.

 

The Vice President saluted the armed forces for their unwavering courage in safeguarding the nation’s borders and sovereignty. He added that India’s remarkable journey since Independence is a testament to the strength of the country’s democracy, the resilience of the people and unwavering faith in the ideals enshrined in the Constitution. Mr Radhakrishnan said that as the world’s largest democracy, India has demonstrated that diversity can flourish alongside unity, and that democratic institutions can grow stronger through the active participation, dialogue and collective responsibility of its citizens. 

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the nation on the occasion of Independence Day via a social media post. Mr Modi said, today the country remembers with gratitude the countless freedom fighters whose courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment ensured the end of colonial rule. He said, their dreams continue to inspire the countrymen to work together to build a Viksit Bharat. The Prime Minister said, the nation is scaling new heights of progress across different sectors, powered by 140 crore Indians. He expressed hope that this journey will keep progressing at an even greater pace in the times to come.

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his greetings. In a social media post, Mr Shah saluted all the brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the liberty of the country. He called upon the people to resolve to further accelerate the building of a developed, prosperous and self-reliant India.

 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has also greeted citizens on Independence Day. He said, this day is an occasion to honour the indomitable courage, sacrifice, and supreme valour of the countless freedom fighters who gave their all for India’s independence. Mr Singh said that this occasion also marks the collective resolve of 140 crore Indians to build a secure, empowered, prosperous, self-reliant, and developed India.
