Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Kerala today for a day-long official visit, gracing Amritapuri in Kollam as the chief guest for the grand 73rd birthday celebrations of  Mata Amritanandamayi. While speaking on the occasion, the Vice President said Mata Amritanandamayi’s entire life has been a message of love and service to mankind. Her entire life had been devoted to eliminate two kinds of poverty, ie poverty of food, clothes and shelter and poverty of love and compassion, he said. 

The Vice President, alongside Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, presented a ₹2 crore financial assistance cheque from the Mata Amritanandamayi Math to Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Surendra Thapa, to aid relief operations in Nepal’s flash flood-hit regions. The high-profile event saw the presence of several key dignitaries, including Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, and Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi. Following the celebrations, the Vice President travels to Thiruvananthapuram this afternoon to preside as chief guest at the graduation ceremony of SUT Academy in Balaramapuram before departing for Delhi later today.
