Uttarakhand has been receiving intermittent light to moderate rain over most parts of the State for the last 48 hours.
AIR correspondent reports that normal life has been affected due to heavy rain and landslides in the hilly areas of Garhwal and Kumaon regions.
That heavy machinery along with manpower has been deployed at the different points of hilly areas on a war footing to open about 200 roads closed due to heavy rain and landslides. In the plains including Dehradun and Haridwar, the situation of waterlogging remained in many places even today. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to assess the damage caused in the areas affected by waterlogging.
He said that he is constantly monitoring the road and rain situation from the State Disaster Control Room. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government has issued a helpline number- 94-11-11-27-80 for people stranded in different places of the state including Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has said that there will be a decrease in rain activities in the next two to three days in the State.
