In Uttarakhand, the Kedarnath Yatra has been temporarily halted in the Rudraprayag district due to continuous rainfall since late last night and an Orange Alert has been issued by the India Meteorological Department. The decision was taken by the district administration, keeping in view the safety of pilgrims.
According to the administration, all pilgrims currently on the Kedarnath trekking route are being halted at the nearest holding areas and safe locations. No pilgrim will be allowed to proceed further until weather conditions improve.
The administration has directed all Sector Magistrates, Police personnel, DDRF, SDRF, NDRF and other concerned departments to remain on high alert.
In case of any disaster, road blockage, landslide or other emergency, people may contact the District Emergency Operations Centre on helpline numbers 8958757335 and 8218326386. Police assistance is available through dialling 112.
The administration has appealed to all pilgrims to remain patient and follow the issued guidelines.
