People in Uttar Pradesh got much-needed relief from the scorching heat as the monsoon entered the state, with almost all parts of the state witnessing rainfall.
The southwest monsoon officially entered Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, with the monsoon trough passing through Azamgarh, Bareilly, and Ayodhya districts. Several parts of the state recorded moderate to heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, bringing much-needed relief from the prolonged heat.
Sultanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Badaun, Saharanpur, and Sambhal witnessed very heavy rain, disrupting normal life in some areas while significantly bringing down daytime temperatures.
The rainfall has come as a major relief for farmers, who had been anxiously waiting for the monsoon as paddy sowing was already running behind schedule. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in many districts today and said that weather conditions remain favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon across the state.
