The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration yesterday uncovered a major network in Lucknow involving fake billing, cross-billing and paper transactions without the actual supply of medicines. It was being used to push counterfeit and fake medicines into the market.

 

An FIR has been registered at Aminabad Police Station against four accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They are alleged to have generated bills among their firms without any actual supply of medicines and created records of purchases and sales through paper transactions.

 

During the investigation, officials allegedly found documents showing purchases of medicines such as Zoryl M1, Augmentin and Dexorange Syrup in the names of other firms.

 

The department claims that these medicines were allegedly diverted into the market through illegal channels, potentially posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
